Paterson NJ Arson SuspectPolice officers recently arrested a Paterson NJ man accused of setting fire to a building.

The suspect is a 20-year-old male who lives in Paterson, New Jersey. According to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect intentionally started the fire at a building located on East 20th Street in Paterson, NJ.

Passaic County arson investigators said that the suspect set fire to a car parked in the area of the building. The fire then quickly spread from the motor vehicle to two other vehicles and eventually reached the building.

Although the building burned down, no one was hurt.

Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Arson Unit and the Paterson Police Department, investigated the arson incident. Investigators reportedly obtained video surveillance footage showing the suspect committing the crime.

The suspect was arrested charged with burglary and arson. Arson is a third degree criminal offense that carries severe penalties, including a potential sentence of 3-5 years in New Jersey State Prison.
