York Region Condos Must Adopt Mask Policies

York Region has followed Toronto’s lead and now requires all condo corporations to adopt a mandatory mask policy in enclosed common areas. The requirement to have a policy goes into effect this Friday, August 7.

The York Region Medical Officer of Health has provided the instructions under O. Reg. 364/20, s. 2(s) Schedule 1.

Although the Toronto bylaw and York Region’s instructions are similar, there are some noteworthy differences. For example, in York Region, children under the age of 5 are exempt from requirement. In Toronto, only children under the age of 2 are exempt.

Who’s next – Mississauga, Ottawa…

Even if your condo is not yet required to adopt a mask policy, we encourage all condo corporations to consider whether adopting a policy is right for their community.
