The nineteenth century saw a significant expansion of agricultural yields, driven by technical changes in agriculture. The green revolution, or the Third Agricultural Revolution, furthered this process. Progressively, the determinants of food security moved from the will of nature to the folly of man. Today, food distribution, not production, is considered the root of contemporary food insecurity.
