Thomas Haines is a software engineer and entrepreneur. He holds a BSc, LLB (Hons), and LLM, and has qualified as a solicitor, barrister and Australian registered patent attorney. Thomas’ early engineering focus was devoted to working with Nikon on the first generation of their digital cameras, and he subsequently joined Microsoft to work on developing the Office suite whilst completing his legal training.  He was a founding partner of patent firm Golja Haines & Friend; and in conjunction since 2011 developed pioneering `big data` patent tools to grow his firm and others.

In 2018 the patent products were acquired by the world’s largest IP management company, CPA Global, enabling Thomas and his team to focus exclusively on WiseTime: a leading autonomous timekeeping solution designed to meet the needs of legal professionals, which he founded in 2014.

WiseTime has offices in Perth, Munich and New York, operating as a fully owned subsidiary of IPH Limited (IPH: ASX200).
