I have taught both exam and paper classes. I prefer paper classes because I have found that many students need additional writing practice(see my post below). Additionally, it’s some what easier on me because the pressure is off trying to make sure that the entire syllabus, which the exam is based upon, is covered. However, this comes at a price. Students are more likely to be unprepared in paper classes.
