The latest statistics from the Northern District of Georgia Clerk’s Office and Administrative Office show, not surprisingly, that filings are down.

In the Northern District of Georgia, Chapter 7 and 13 filings are down significantly from January to June 2012, compared to the same time period in 2011.  The total cases filed year to date, from this chart from the Clerk’s Office, are:

          Chapter 7
           Chapter 13         Total
  2011 (Jan-Jun)         15,297              10,761    26,058
  2012 (Jan-Jun)         13,089                9,268    22,357

Although filings are down compared to the same time period in 2090- 2011, they are still up significantly over the figures for 2006-2008, following the effective date of the BAPCPA. You can see the filings for 2005-2012 on this chart from the Clerk’s office.

Chapter 11 filings are also down during the same time period.

           Chapter 11
   2011 (Jan-Jun)               169
   2012 (Jan-Jun)               124

Nationwide, according to the Administrative Office of U.S. Courts, total filings for 2012 are down 14.2% from January-June, 2012.  All statistics from the Administrative Office can be accessed from this page.
