On January 9, we hosted a reception to celebrate the launch of the Miami-Dade County Rail Car Project. Italian global transportation company AnsaldoBreda, will replace the existing aging Metrorail trains with 136 modern, heavy rail vehicles.

Miami-Dade Transit awarded the $300 million contract to AnsaldoBreda to build the new fleet of Metrorail cars, which will be equipped with LED lighting, Wi-Fi, a CCTV security system, and bicycle racks. The new cars will also be assembled by AnsaldoBreda at a plant to be built in the Miami area.

Miami-Dade County Mayor, Carlos Gimenez, and AnsaldoBreda, Inc. President, Giancarlo Fantappiè, attended the event. The Italian Consul General, County Commissioners, County Department heads, Assistant County Attorneys, Transit Department staff, AnsaldoBreda personnel from Italy and California, and Bilzin Sumberg attorneys were also in attendance.
