Tips for Auto Accident Victims

Below are a few basics that reduce the potential for legal issues when you are involved in a motor vehicle accident.

1) Find out if any of your passengers are injured. If able to, people should exit the vehicle, but with serious injuries this is not always possible.

2) If your vehicle is blocking traffic or interfering with traffic patterns, if available use safety triangles or other materials to warn other motorists. This reduces the possibility of secondary accidents.

3) Call your local or state police to make a report of the collision.

4) Obtain personal and insurance information from the other driver or drivers involved in the crash for your records.

5) Do NOT speak with the other driver’s insurance company or anyone else other than first responders or your own insurance company. Doing so may result in reduced options for a legal remedy.

6) Contact an auto accident attorney. They will help you understand what legal options may be available to you.
