On Thursday, April 3, 2014, Greenberg Traurig’s Business Immigration & Compliance practice Co-Chair Laura Reiff and attorney Nataliya Rymer spoke at a breakfast seminar co-hosted by Greenberg Traurig and Marymount Manhattan College in New York, NY. The seminar addressed comprehensive immigration reform and assistance with international recruitment efforts for colleges and universities.
Laura and Nataliya provided an update on the status of comprehensive immigration reform in Congress to higher education professionals and general counsel dealing with issues relating to international students, scholars, and employees. Specifically, the seminar addressed potential changes with respect to accreditation and enforcement laws, backlogs in the permanent residence process, and temporary visa classifications, all impacting colleges, universities, and affiliated entities.
