The Global Markets Advisory Committee of the CFTC just annouced that it will consider two issues at an upcoming meeting:

1) Whether a clearing mandate is appropriate for NDFs, with a particular focus on how such a mandate would impact foreign exchange contracts; and

2) The CFTC’s jurisdiction with respect to derivatives contracts that reference the digital currency bitcoin.

The meeting will be held on October 9th from 1:30 to 5:00 p.m. Eastern.  The CFTC has provided a toll-free number (1-866-844-9416, Passcode CFTC) so that interested persons can “listen in”. Additional information can be found in today’s press release.

Noteworthy for sure!

Good day.  Good to hear about these two topics! DR2
