Internet gaming is one of the fastest growing industries in the world, and with offices in key gaming jurisdictions, state capitals and financial centers throughout the United States, as well as a strong presence in Israel and other international locations, Greenberg Traurig’s Global Gaming Group brings its knowledge of this highly regulated industry and its global resources to our gaming clients all over the world.

Notably, in 2014 Greenberg Traurig represented publicly-traded Amaya Gaming Group Inc., as lead M&A counsel in its $4.9 billion acquisition of the world’s largest online poker business and owner of the PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker brands. Numerous Greenberg Traurig attorneys in Miami, London, Atlanta and other cities, including Joey Shabot, a Corporate shareholder in the Tel Aviv office, and Gary Epstein, co-chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Israel Practice and chair of the firm’s Global Corporate & Securities practice, represented Amaya in the transaction. See the firm’s press release regarding the transaction.

In addition, Greenberg Traurig’s Las Vegas office, working with the firm’s Global Gaming Practice, acted as lead international gaming regulatory counsel in the $1.2 billion acquisition of Multimedia Games Holding Company, Inc. by Global Cash Access Holdings Inc., lead gaming regulatory counsel to Video Gaming Technologies, Inc. in connection with its sale to Aristocrat Leisure Limited, and in numerous other M&A transactions.

The firm’s Global Gaming Group continues to be active around the world and involved in industry events:

ICE Totally Gaming 2015 is one of the largest and most comprehensive trade event in gaming. The conference, which took place earlier this month (Feb. 3-5) in London,  brought together members of the government, key industry leaders and distinguished local and international market representatives as they discussed the latest developments and industry challenges, and witnessed hundreds of new product launches over three days. Greenberg Traurig shareholders Martha A. Sabol, Mark A. Clayton, Loretta A. Tuell and Laura McAllister Cox spoke at the conference. See the firm’s press release.

The 20th Annual Western Indian Gaming Conference (WIGC), taking place Feb. 10-12 in Southern California, is one of the most informative gaming conferences where tribal leaders, casino operations managers, regulators, policy makers and industry professionals from throughout the country gather to discuss issues facing gaming matters, ranging from Internet gaming to state and federal regulatory issues. Greenberg Traurig shareholder Loretta A. Tuell is participating on the panel, “Political Update – How the Recent Elections Affect Tribal Sovereignty.”

The iGaming Legislative Symposium, scheduled for Feb. 26 in Sacramento, is a daylong program that will focus on aspects of the possible legalization of online gaming in California and bring together government and industry professionals to discuss the issues the state faces in the possibility of legalizing online gambling. The keynote speaker will be Mike Gatto, California District 34 assembly member and author of AB 9, one of the online poker bills introduced for the 2015 California legislative session. Other confirmed speakers include Richard Schuetz, Commissioner, California Gambling Control Commission and Joseph Weinert, Executive Vice President, Spectrum Gaming Group. Greenberg Traurig is a platinum sponsor of the event.
