Philadelphia_shutterstock_236135404The Philadelphia Israel Chamber of Commerce is hosting a reception during BIO 2015 in honor of Avi Hasson, the Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Economy of Israel and the Israeli delegation to the BIO Convention. Thomas Jefferson University, a leading hospital system and medical university in Philadelphia that has numerous collaborations in Israel, will be hosting the event at their facilities.

Along with Thomas Jefferson University and Greenberg Traurig, other sponsors include the Ministry of Economy of Israel, MATIMOP, the Israeli Consulate General of Israel, and Israel Ideas.  The firm is a leading member of the Philadelphia Israel Chamber, and Greenberg Traurig attorneys David Gitlin and Beth Cohen are past presidents of the Chamber. The reception will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 16.

The Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) in the Ministry of Economy is charged with execution of government policy for support of industrial R&D.  The OCS objectives are to support industrial R&D; encourage entrepreneurs in high-tech start-up companies; leverage Israel’s highly capable scientific and technological labor force; facilitate the academic industrial interface for the transfer of scientific know-how and technology; and, in general, to stimulate cooperation in state of the art R&D at national and international levels. A variety of ongoing support programs developed and offered by the OCS play a major role in enabling Israel to be a key center for high tech entrepreneurship.

The program will include remarks from the Israeli Chief Scientist and the opportunity to meet the approximately 16 innovative Israeli life science companies attending the BIO Conference.
