We had 17 total donors (eight of whom gave for the very first time) and LifeServe calculated that number saved 51 lives in central Iowa! This was our first official blood drive (although PRT recalls one from the 70’s specifically for Cal Dickinson). We chose to participate because blood donations are crucial for cancer patients undergoing treatment, victims of accidents, and trauma patients, as well as for individuals being treated for various blood disorders. As over 3,000 units of blood per week is required to meet the needs of hospital patients, we wanted to do our small part.
