This morning, OSHA announced another planned delay in the deadline for electronic reporting of injury and illness data from July 1st to December 1, 2017.
The further delay does not necessarily mean that electronic reporting will still be required. In a news release, the agency stated, “The proposed delay will allow OSHA an opportunity to further review and consider the rule.”
It is possible that the agency will withdraw the rule, modify it, issue another delay, or move forward by providing instructions for the submission of electronic data. The rule is also under a pending court challenge.
If you are interested in submitting comments to OSHA about its decision to delay the compliance date, those comments must be submitted on or before July 13, 2017. Here is a link to OSHA’s press release.
