MSHAchanges

As the new leaders at MSHA start to report to work, what changes should they consider? From my work helping mine operators navigate MSHA compliance and challenges, a number of broad trends have emerged in recent years. In the current issue of Coal Age, I consider 10 changes that could make a difference.

Just yesterday, Ed Elliott joined MSHA as a special advisor, and a Senate committee sent David Zatezalo’s nomination to be MSHA’s new leader to the full Senate. Wayne Palmer recently joined the agency as its deputy assistant secretary and acting chief. All three join MSHA as appointees of the Trump administration.

As they settle in and sound out stakeholders how to take MSHA to the next level, what will they hear? I know what many of my clients would say. Read on in Coal Age here.
