Knowing whether an LLC or Corporation is the right structure isn’t going to get you moving. A manifesto that reminds you of those people out there waiting for your brilliance will. We’re just covering everything else so you see it’s possible.
It’s not that most of us don’t want to start the business, the charity, the project, or the side-hustle. It’s that we’re scared senseless. Where do you start? Do you know everything you need to know? Don’t you need to read Seth Godin first? What if it doesn’t work out.
Thing is, you know most of that isn’t gonna happen and knowing the answers to each isn’t necessary. You know that. I know that. And you know I know that.
What will move you is inspiration. What you’re doing has to inspire you so much, that the fear (still there) doesn’t pull you in its direction as strongly as the inspiration pulls you in its direction. In researching the legal and learning the business and starting the paperwork you’ve probably lost the inspiration. So let’s start there.
I don’t want to call this a class because I want it to be community rasing community, in community. On July 13th I’ll be hosting a 2-hour convening, shall we say. I’ll facilitate, but participants are encouraged to share. The intention is for you to leave having:
- Come up with ideas for meaningful work or projects you want to do, if you don’t have solid ideas.
- Widdle down the ideas you have if you’re one of the MANY folks I meet with a ton of things you want to do.
- Started brainstorming ways to bring in money (you nonprofits too, now) and potential positioning by starting your mission statement and impact narrative.
- A better understanding of the process for creating a structure, the process for determining a structure, costs of creating a structure, potential contracts, things to think about with IP, working with partners, and hiring freelancers
- Come up with an “Oh, s&*t” plan. Tweaks, changes, and full on pivots happen when you’re doing something you’ve never done before. Let’s normalize that and come up with a plan.
But the point isn’t to drown you in the minutiae. It’s to get you inspired, so we’ll be doing all of this in a way to accomplish that. Don’t worry, I won’t be playing zither music. I just want to bring you back to your why in a way that taps into your creative side.

I’m hosting on Google Hangouts so we’ll be able to see each others’ faces. To make sure everyone has buy-in, and it’s inclusive, I’m only hosting if we have 20 people sign up. So share with your friends, family, and anyone else you think could benefit. The cost is $15 generally and $5 for educators.
