Last week the Justis International Law and Technology Writing Competition was announced for the third year in a row.
The international competition which has received entries from law students studying at Ivy League and Russell Group universities, alongside some of the top law schools around the world, will now benefit from the extended network of Justis’ parent company vLex.
Entrants can now expect the Overall Winning or Best in Category articles to reach far wider audiences. The competition boasts a short history of successful articles from law students that have been published globally in journals, magazines and blogs in the UK, USA and New Zealand.
Each year the competition benefits from a diverse judging panel of experts which has previously included Nicole Allaband, Editor-in-Chief, Richmond Journal of Law & Technology, Emily Allbon Senior Lecturer in Law for The City Law School, Masoud Gerami, Managing Director, Justis Publishing and Liesel Weekes, President of the Barbados Bar Association, alongside other notable experts.
The competition offers an exceptional opportunity to expose your writing to Justis’ international readership, and an associated impact for your research findings and ideas few students receive. The competition is exceptional, as the caliber of entries included on the shortlist this year illustrated and I can only imagine this will become even more evident in coming years. At an individual level the discipline of distilling complex legal arguments and ideas into concise, approachable pieces for public consumption is a hugely valuable skill both in practice and, increasingly, for those entering academia who want to communicate the importance of their research to the populations affected by it.

2020 Writing Competition
This year’s competition will be open this autumn with a grand prize of £2,000, plus three prizes of £250 will be awarded to the best article in each category, alongside publication on the vLex and Justis blogs.
