Are Privilege Protections Shifting in the Tax Context?

In a recent Bloomberg Tax article, tax controversy group co-founder and tax partner Kat Gregor, tax controversy counsel Elizabeth Smith, and litigation associate Monica Mleczko look at four recent decisions: Taylor Lohmeyer Law Firm PLLC v. United States, Gaetano v. United States, In re Search Warrant Issued June 13, 2019, and United States v. Microsoft Corp, which illustrate how courts may navigate the tension between enforcement of the tax laws and well-established privilege protections.
