LEE COUNTY – Two people were injured in a semi-truck accident on southbound Interstate 75 at mile-marker 141.

The accident happened as a 40-year-old man from Cape Coral was driving a semi-tractor in the right lane of southbound I-75.

At the same time, a 47-year old man from Naples was following in the left lane driving a sedan in the opposite lanes of travel approaching the semi-tractor trailer.

At 1:05:00 PM the driver of the Semi-truck suffered an apparent medical issue and drifted across the travel lanes, then crashed into the guard rail.

Debris from the crash was thrown into the roadway and into the path of the oncoming sedan.

The car collided with the debris from the guard rail and commercial truck.

After impacting the guard rail, the semi-truck continued south along the guard rail until it finally came to a stop facing south.

After being hit with the debris the sedan came to a controlled stop on the paved shoulder of southbound 75.

Both the driver of the semi and the diver of the car suffered minor injuries in the accident. It is not known however the nature or severity of the truck driver’s medical emergency.
