On December 4, 2020, senior members of our Public Policy Practice joined the Meridian International Center for an Insights@Meridian discussion before an audience comprised of multinational corporations and the diplomatic community.

The panel, moderated by Toni G. Verstandig, Founder of Prospect Global, LLC and former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, included John Boehner, 53rd Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Joe Crowley, former US Congressman (D-NY) and former Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, and Rodney E. Slater, former US Secretary of Transportation. They discussed:

  • The nuts and bolts of the transition to a Biden Administration
  • Outlook on the shifting power dynamics between the new administration and the 117th Congress, including how Biden’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic relief/recovery efforts may impact the Democratic Party’s standing come the midterm elections in 2022
  • Key and actionable policy priorities (e.g., comprehensive infrastructure legislation)
  • The international trade landscape and the role that the US will/should play

The exuberant discussion was broadcasted live on C-SPAN 2.
