London, United Kingdom. 30th November 2021. — vLex’s International Law and Technology Writing Competition will be extending its submission deadline and accepting competition entries until the 31st of December 2021. Candidates are invited to submit an article that explores one of three categories, with the winner receiving a £1,500 cash prize and a three-month internship at vLex in a department of their choice. Runners-up will also receive cash prizes of £250, and all finalists can expect to have their articles published and promoted to vLex’s international audience.

“We’re pleased to extend the deadline for our annual competition to provide students with more time to submit their entries. Each year we are overwhelmed with the number of high-quality entries we receive, and this year has been no exception. We have already received entries from students at Lancaster University in the UK, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Hanoi Law University in Vietnam, and many more. As we enter our fifth year of running the competition, I would like to thank all of the students, university staff, and partners who have supported us, and wish all those applying this year the very best of luck.” — Matthew Terrell, founder of the writing competition and Head of Marketing at vLex Global Markets.

Historically, the competition has been judged by external guest judges. Past celebrity judges include The Secret Barrister, author of the award-winning №1 bestseller The Secret Barrister, Dr. Shaun Wallace, a barrister and The Dark Destroyer on ITV’s The Chase, and Robert Rinder, a barrister, presenter, and columnist for The Sun and the Evening Standard.

Since its inception, the writing competition has received thousands of entries from students around the world. Previous winners have been from the University of Bologna, Italy, the University of Sheffield, UK, and Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. Most recently, Anokhy Desai, from the University of Pittsburgh, USA, placed 1st in the 2021 competition, and Anokhy is currently excelling in an internship at vLex.

“The vLex competition was a great opportunity for me to develop my writing skills and overcome a personal hurdle of making technical issues more digestible. Working on a more concise piece motivated me to continue participating in writing projects and competitions through the school year, and led to prize money and a fall semester internship that aligned with my interests. I would recommend any student who’s interested in technology and law to participate!” — Anokhy Desai, student at the University of Pittsburgh and intern at vLex.
