In this piece from Corporate Counsel Business Journal, Gartner’s Hype Cycle for Legal and Compliance reveals that the level of digital maturity for most law departments is shockingly low.

“As a result of acute workload pressures through the pandemic, technology solutions appear more attractive than ever for over-burdened legal and compliance teams,” says Zack Hutto, director, advisory in the Gartner Legal & Compliance practice. What’s a GC to do? The Gartner Hype Cycle, which provides a graphic view of how a technology or application will evolve, can help guide deployment in light of a company’s business goals. “Significant hype tends to follow more sophisticated technology innovation – like AI,” Hutto says. “As a result, many legal leaders get overwhelmed by technology opportunities.” That’s why Gartner positions its hype cycle as an essential tool to help organizations become winners. “Through 2026, the leading organizations will be those that create a solid and resilient business foundation to build new opportunities against a background of continued economic and strategic uncertainty,” Gartner says. “Many organizations require significant digital transformation to survive: Technology innovation will be a key tool in this endeavor.” Read more here
