Partner Geoffrey Fehling, who leads the firm’s Boston insurance coverage practice, has been appointed to co-chair the Director and Officer Liability Committee of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section. The Committee is part of the ABA Business Law Section’s global network of over 30,000 business law professionals interested in expanding their knowledge, engaging with their professional communities, and advancing their experience through Section committees, programs, and meetings.

The Director and Officer Liability Committee serves as a resource for practitioners concerning the ever-expanding liability of directors, officers and managers of corporations and alternative entities. The Committee monitors and reports on the law and ethical principles relating to executive protection from civil, administrative and criminal liability. The Committee also seeks to develop best practices for in-house lawyers charged with drafting, counseling, reviewing and communicating about executive protection programs to harmonize rights of statutory exculpation, advancement and indemnification available to directors and managers under statutory authority and D&O liability insurance.

Fehling, who previously served as vice-chair and led the insurance subcommittee, will serve a three-year term as co-chair, which will begin after the Business Law Section’s Fall Meeting.
