We are deeply saddened to share the passing of our friend and colleague, Thomas Hanson. Tom had been an esteemed member of the Dickinson Bradshaw family since 2012.

Throughout his 54-year legal career litigating civil and criminal cases in state and federal court, he was one of most active trial lawyers in the Central Iowa legal community and served as a mentor to several new attorneys over the years. As we remember his life and legacy, Tom will be remembered fondly for his keen insightfulness, his passion for justice, and his heart of gold.

Tom was a friend, colleague, and mentor. He was always generous with his time to younger attorneys, always available to discuss cases, and passed around a lot of work. Most of Tom’s clients were clients for life, a testament to the trust they had in Tom, and something all of us at the Dickinson Bradshaw Firm aspire to achieve. Tom helped us become better attorneys, and made us a stronger Firm.

Prior to joining Dickinson Bradshaw, Tom was a senior partner at Hanson, Bjork & Russell in Des Moines, and he worked at Mayer Brown in Chicago for many years. He received a B.A. from the University of Iowa in 1967, and his J.D. from the University of Chicago in 1970.
