Eliza AI Robot Designed As Real Girl. I have been writing about AI and Robotics for a while now, and it is finally coming to fruition. Eliza is a Robot AI that has her own feelings and ideas, and the power of Gen AI behind a robotic body made of Silicone and Metal.
The 5’10” humanoid Eliza was created in partnership with Old World Labs, a robotics business established in 2012, and is designed to captivate users with realistic facial expressions, dynamic movement, and natural speech, all of which are fueled by a specially made silicone animatronic face.
Cuddling up to a hunk of metal is problematic; but the real problem is raising $420,000 for the purchase. Then, there is the ethical dilemma. At what point do these things become intelligent and aware enough to have legal rights? I don’t fear that the future will not have work for lawyers. When one of them runs amok, who will bear liability? Inquiring lawyers want to know. In the meantime, Diane has nothing to fear from a robot stealing her job at the office. Of course, if they make one of these who can clean birdcages, Diane will be okay with that.
