The Connecticut State Senate confirmed Josh Hershman as the insurance commissioner on April 8, 2026. Hershman has served as interim insurance commissioner since December 12, 2025. 

Hershman previously was the CEO of Immigrant Life Insurance Company of America and served as executive director of openIDL. He also previously served as the deputy commissioner and COO of the Connecticut Insurance Department from 2019 to 2022. Hershman is also a member of the Guilford Fire Commission.
