People take social media way too seriously.
A few weeks ago I saw this young lady on one of my social media feeds in a great deal of distress over her neighbors. If her post was to be believed, some of them had recently mistaken her husband for a relative named “Kevin” who owed the family a great deal of money and hadn’t been home in a month or so. She was very irate that her husband (whose name was nothing similar to Kevin) was being called (a) Kevin, and (b) a deadbeat, so she tried to call the cops and get her neighbors to leave her alone. This didn’t really work and the irate neighbors kept coming to her yard asking for her husband to give them money.
Two days ago she posted photos of her and her husband on a date at a local crab shack. I posted underneath a picture of her husband “Kevin, is that you? Please call your sister. She really needs your support.”
I’ve been blocked since then by both of them but I can’t stop laughing.
Here’s another example of people taking themselves way too seriously on social media.
As many of you will suspect, I’m in several pro wrestling related social media groups. One in particular stands out from about a month or so ago when a woman wanted to meet WWE Champ Cody Rhodes at Wrestlemania.
I think that’s what she wanted at least. The entire post was full of grammatical errors, void of punctuation and effectively consisted of one run on sentence that was thirteen lines long.
So as I attempted to decipher the post, I replied with a couple of grammatical change suggestions that would make the post more readable.
This was met with the woman saying “I’m trying to get tickets to see Cody Rhodes at an autograph signing and your concerned with grammar get the fuck off my post man what the actual fuck”
My response: “Excuse me, ma’am, I was trying to help you achieve your goals of getting your son to meet Cody Rhodes. I was just attempting to help you with making your request clearer to the rest of the group. However, since you told me to get the fuck out of here, I will be taking my tickets to the Cody Rhodes autograph signing and giving them to my son and his friend.”
Boy her tone changed in a heartbeat. “sorry sir I’m trying to make a memory for my son do you really have the Cody Rhodes autograph tickets”
Me: “I have the tickets as much as you have a grasp of proper grammar and punctuation.”
Her: “Fuck you asshole.”
At least she managed a period there. People can learn!
One more, because I’m a glutton for punishment and have zero understanding of certain social norms.
Recently in Knox County, we had a mayoral election between a lady who ran on the Republican ticket and a gentleman who was a card-carrying DSA member. I saw a post asking folks who they voted for and so I decided to have fun.
“(Candiate X)! (Candidate X!) He’s our man! If he can’t do it then well, Socialism hasn’t been properly tried anywhere, now has it?”
A random reply guy tried to hit me with “tell that to Venezuela,” which proves many Republicans lack a sarcasm meter.
I think he even deleted his stupid comment later. Yay, I win!
Y’all talk amongst yourselves and have a great weekend!
