Since the EDGAR Next transition went live last year, SEC filers have had to adjust to a new set of account management obligations. Among these is the annual confirmation requirement; each year, one of a filer’s account administrators must log into the EDGAR Filer Management dashboard and affirm that the individuals, technical administrators, and delegated entities authorized on such filer’s EDGAR Next account remain accurate, and that all other filer information on the dashboard is accurate. This annual confirmation requirement is true for all SEC filers, regardless of whether they are individuals or entities, domestic filers or foreign private issuers.
When enrolling in EDGAR Next, each filer selected a quarter-end date—March 31, June 30, September 30, or December 31—as their ongoing annual confirmation deadline. That choice is not permanently fixed; a filer’s account administrator may reset the cycle at any time by completing the annual confirmation in an earlier quarter than that of the current deadline, which then resets the following year’s due date to one year after that earlier quarter-end.
For many filers who enrolled around the initial rollout or who have since adjusted their cycle, September 30 may be their applicable deadline for this 12-month cycle. Filers should confirm with their legal or compliance departments, outside counsel or filing agents, as applicable, which quarterly deadline applies to each CIK in their filer family, as different filers may be on different cycles. Filers should further keep in mind that all account administrators begin to receive reminders from the SEC starting six weeks prior to a filer’s selected deadline, and so should be encouraging their account administrators to be on the lookout for these reminders and ensure they are checking their email spam filters and permitted sender lists if not received.
The process for a filer’s account administrator to complete the annual confirmation is as follows:
- Log into the EDGAR Filer Management dashboard using Login.gov individual account credentials and complete multifactor authentication, then navigate to “My Accounts” and select the relevant filer to open its dashboard.
- Review “Account Details” at the top of the dashboard to confirm accuracy, and correct anything that is out of date before proceeding.
- Open the “Manage Individuals” tab and review every authorized account administrator, user, and technical administrator listed, correcting any information that is no longer accurate or removing individuals who should no longer have access.
- Open the “Manage Delegations and User Groups” tab to confirm that all delegated CIKs (such as filing agents or law firms) and user groups remain accurate.
- If the filer maintains active filer API tokens, review the “Manage Filer API Token” tab, including each token’s expiration date.
- Once all information has been reviewed and any corrections made, select “Annual Confirmation” at the top-center of the dashboard, read the confirmation prompts carefully, and select “I CONFIRM ON BEHALF OF THE FILER” to complete the process; EDGAR will then send a confirmation email to the filer’s account administrators and reset the dashboard to display the next annual confirmation due date one year later.
Filers that miss their deadline are not immediately locked out: EDGAR provides a three-month grace period with daily reminders, during which the filer retains full access and filing capability. However, if confirmation is not completed by the end of the three-month grace period, the filer’s account will be deactivated, existing individual authorizations and delegations will lapse, and in order to regain EDGAR access and filing capabilities, the filer will be required to submit a new Form ID—though its CIK and filing history are preserved.
For additional guidance, the SEC’s EDGAR Next webpage contains helpful materials, including the dedicated How Do I Complete Annual Confirmation for an EDGAR Account guide and the How Do I Understand EDGAR Next Roles guide describing account administrator, user, technical administrator, and delegation functions.
Filers should complete the annual confirmation directly on the EDGAR Filer Management dashboard, and delegated entities, such as filing agents, can track their client filers’ upcoming due dates through the View Filer Account Information API.

On August 21, 2026, the SEC announced that the filing fee rate for the registration of securities would decrease from $138.10 per million dollars to $87.00 per million dollars, effective October 1, 2026. All filers planning to register securities in the near future should keep this rate change in mind to ensure that they pay the proper fee upon registration and do not overpay by continuing to use the current rate on or after October 1, 2026.
