As states continue to respond to the federal tax changes enacted under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), questions surrounding conformity, selective decoupling and the resulting compliance challenges are rapidly taking center stage for taxpayers and practitioners alike.

On October 7, 2026, Partner Jeff Friedman will participate in Tax Analysts’ Taxing Issues webinar, “State Conformity to the OBBBA: The Decoupling Wave,” examining how states are responding to the OBBBA and what those decisions may mean for tax administration, compliance and federal-state tax policy.

The discussion will explore the growing patchwork of state responses to the OBBBA, including states that have moved to decouple from selected provisions and the broader policy considerations driving those decisions. Panelists will also address the potential consequences for taxpayers as state conformity rules continue to diverge.
