The Boston Office of the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (which is the regional office covering Connecticut) has moved.  Districts should update their 504 handbooks, hearing forms and due process rights notifications to reflect the new address. Districts are required to provide parents with information about how to contact this agency and OCR is a good technical assistance resource for schools as well.

OCR’s new address, effective October 19, 2009, is:

                        Office for Civil Rights/ED

                        8th Floor

5 Post Office Square, Suite 900

                        Boston, MA  02109-3921

OCR states that it is very important to use the complete address.  Their phone numbers remain the same.  The main line is (617) 289-0111.  The e-mail address is ocr.boston@ed.gov.
