In the movies

the characters move in a parade.

They pass by on their best behavior.

Are they hypocrites?

Our real life companions

have ugly moments.

We are real

and flawed,

and full of error.

Our parade lacks the color

of the false joy

and the pretend happiness.

If you wind the reel

backwards,

will you find the truth?

Or, is all of our truth

partly made of lies?

If I have an upset stomach,

there are pills to take.

If I have a headache,

there are pills to take.

What do I do with the pain

of reality?

When the cars crash on the highway,

the feeble passengers

have no protection from flying metal.

Our souls have no protection either.

So, watch the movies.

Watch the parades.

But, never be seduced

by happiness

that passes by in a moment.

Reality will happen,

whether you want it or not. .Rick pensive image.remini-enhanced (2)
