A North Dakota-based company is recalling half-gallon and quart containers of peppermint bon bon and peppermint bon bon light ice cream because they may contain eggs not listed as an ingredient. 
Cass-Clay Creamery of Fargo, ND has issued a voluntary recall of its Hornbacher’s Peppermint Bon Bon Light ice cream sold in 1.89 liter (half gallon) containers, its Schroeder Peppermint Bon Bon ice cream sold in 1.65 liter (1.75 quart) containers and its SunnyBrook Peppermint Bon Bon Light ice cream sold in 1.89 (1 liter) containers because these products may contain eggs not declared on package labeling. The ice creams were recalled after it came to light that they were made with a flavoring containing egg yolks, but the list of ingredients did not mention eggs. Consumers are advised to return these products to their place of purchase for a full refund. Those requiring more information can contact Cass-Clay’s consumer affairs line at 1-800-441-4269. Individuals with an egg allergy or sensitivity can experience a severe and sometimes life-threatening reaction after eating eggs. No illnesses have been linked to consumption of these products to date.
