As Alyce Robertson notes in a recent blog post, home and condo sales in Miami are currently surging with at least eight projects spanning 3,600 units actively under construction right now and more in preliminary stages. On a national level, however, the real estate market has not seen the same level of recovery.
That’s why it is no small feat for a national home builder to have had a stellar year, which is exactly what Lennar CEO Stuart Miller has done for the company, earning him a spot on Fortune’s 2012 Businessperson of the Year list. Fortune notes that Mr. Miller’s strategies, like focusing on communities less exposed to the housing collapse, and making a push into multi-generational housing have put his company ahead of the home builder pack.
