Following our previous post on the stunning ruling earlier this month in EEOC v. Freeman, No. 09-CV-2573 (D. Md. Aug. 9, 2013)  – in which Judge Roger Titus of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland dismissed a nationwide pattern or practice lawsuit brought by the EEOC alleging that an employer unlawfully relied upon credit and criminal background checks that caused a disparate impact against African-American, Hispanic, and male job applicants – we were asked to provide some thought leadership via video on the implications of the ruling.

These audits are designed to minimize the incidence of employment-related class action litigation and to maximize management discretion and workplace productivity. Mr. Maatman’s work in this area has been profiled in the Wall Street Journal and Time Magazine.
