The due date for filing 2017 U.S. federal income tax returns for individuals who have requested an extension is Oct. 15, 2018. Form 5471 is used by U.S. persons who are officers, directors, or shareholders in certain foreign corporations, including controlled foreign corporations (CFCs), to satisfy the reporting requirements of sections 6038 (reporting with respect to certain foreign corporations) and 6046 (returns relating to organizations and reorganizations of foreign corporations).
