Recently, the Legislature passed and the Governor signed two Public Acts that made significant changes to the statutes addressing sexual harassment in the workplace.  These bills are collectively known as the Time’s Up Act.  Among the significant changes made by the Act were changes that (1) expanded the training requirement from employers with 50 employees to all employers with 3 or more employees, and (2) expanded the category of employees who need to receive the training from all supervisors to all employees.

In conjunction with these expanded training requirements, the Legislature directed the CHRO to develop an online training program that would satisfy the Act’s requirements. The CHRO recently posted that online training program on its website.  Although the CHRO’s training will assist employers in meeting the new requirements, in-person training provides a comprehensive and complementary resource to supplement the online training.

As part of our Labor and Employment seminar on October 11th, Peter Murphy and Julia Wilde will present a session dedicated to addressing recent legal developments on sexual harassment in the workplace, including:

  • Reviewing all of the changes made by the Act
  • Evaluating whether an online program would be as effective as an in-person training for your workforce
  • Discussing strategies for maintaining a workplace free from harassment
  • Addressing recent court cases involving sexual harassment in the workplace
