Seyfarth Synopsis: With this final video blog posting, we conclude our series of presentations by WCAR author Jerry Maatman on workplace class action litigation developments. Jerry’s discussion of key trends includes the low settlement numbers in 2019 after historically high settlement numbers in 2017 (with settlement numbers significantly dropping in 2018 and again in 2019). Jerry discusses the factors that led to this trend including Supreme Court case decisions. Along with this, Jerry discusses the impact of the #MeToo movement and how this manifested in the EEOC’s FY 2019 filings. In 2019 we saw several high-profile settlements related to sexual harassment claims. Watch the video below to see and hear Jerry discuss low settlement numbers in 2019 and the #MeToo Movement’s effect on complex litigation in 2019. Thanks for watching!
