Happy new year!
California employers: Effective January 1, 2023, the minimum salary for exempt employees (i.e., salaried employees who are not eligible for overtime pay) increased to $64,480 per year.
Under California law, exempt employees must earn at least twice the state minimum wage of $15.50 based on a 40-hour workweek.
If you have California personnel, make sure to review the exempt vs. non-exempt classification of employees who may be close to the new minimum exempt salary level.
