On January 12, 2026, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Sistema Nacional de Información Estadistica y Geográfica (INEGI)) announced an increase for Mexico’s Unit of Measure (UMA), as every year, and these amounts will enter into force on February 1, 2026. The UMA—in Spanish, Unidad de Medida y Actualización—is used to determine the penalties for employer breaches of labor and employment obligations.
