The New York Department of Financial Services provides New York insureds a way to grade their insurance companies. This consumer information, known as a report card, covers the insurers who compose the majority of the insurance market in the areas affected by SuperStorm Sandy.

The report card lists the number of claims each company has received from its policyholders as a result of SuperStorm Sandy. It also lists how many claims are closed with payment; how many claims are closed without payment; the average number of days between receiving notice of the claim, sending an adjuster to inspect the damage, writing an estimate, and paying the claim; how many adjusters each company has in the field; and the number of complaints received by the Department of Financial Services.

Find out your insurance company’s performance here.
