Act Fast To Comply With The 2018 Minimum Wage Updates: Summer Edition

US employers take note: Q3 ushers in a number of new minimum wage increases.

Unless otherwise indicated, the following minimum wage increases became effective on July 1, 2018:

CALIFORNIA
  • Berkeley: increase to 15.00 effective October 1, 2018
  • Emeryville:
    • 56 employees or more: $15.69
    • 55 employees or fewer: $15.00
  • Long Beach (Hotel Workers): $14.64
  • Los Angeles (city and county):
    • 26 or more employees: $13.25
    • 25 or fewer employees: $12.00
  • Malibu:
    • 26 or more employees: $13.25
    • 25 or fewer employees: $12.00
  • Milpitas: $13.50
  • Pasadena:
    • 26 or more employees: $13.25
    • 25 or fewer employees: $12.00
  • San Francisco: $15.00
  • San Jose: $13.50
  • San Leandro: $13.00
  • San Mateo
    • For profit: $13.50
    • 501(c(3): $12.00
    • Santa Clara: $13.00
  • Santa Monica:
    • Employers with 26 or more employees: $13.25
    • Employees with 25 or fewer employees: $12.00
ILLINOIS
  • Chicago:
    • Non-tipped employees: $12.00
    • Tipped employees: $6.25
  • Cook County:
    • Non-tipped employees: $11.00
    • Tipped employees: $5.10
MAINE Portland: $10.90
MARYLAND $10.10
  • Tipped Employees: at least $3.63, however employee must earn the minimum wage per hour including tips
  • Employees under 20: $8.59 (85% of the minimum wage) for the first 6 months of employment
  • Montgomery County:
    • 51 or more employees: $12.25
    • 50 or fewer employees: $12.00
MINNESOTA
  • Minneapolis
    • 101 or more employees: $11.25
    • 100 or fewer employees: $10.25
NEW YORK Increase to $11.10 effective December 31, 2018
  • New York City:
    • Fast food employers: increase to $15.00 effective December 31, 2018
    • 11 or more workers: increase to $15.00 effective December 31, 2018
    • 10 or fewer workers: increase to $13.50 effective December 31, 2018
  • Long Island (Nassau and Suffolk Counties) and Westchester County:
    • Increase to $12.00 effective December 31, 2018
OREGON $10.75
  • Portland Metro: $12.00
  • Non-urban counties: $10.50
WASHINGTON D.C.
  • Non-tipped employees: $13.25
  • Tipped employees: $3.89, however employee must earn the minimum wage per hour including tips
