Connecticut’s Attorney General Weighs In On The Janus Decision

The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in the Janus case continues to be a topic of discussion among lawyers, and now the Connecticut Attorney General has issued guidance on the issue. A link to this guidance can be found here.

The Attorney General has outlined the effect of the Janus decision, including an interesting discussion of the public’s access to the personnel information of union members under the Freedom of Information Act. The reason for this commentary is likely because several anti-union groups have been requesting information about union members in order to persuade them to opt out of their union membership. If you receive such a request, you should carefully consider what information you are required to disclose under the Freedom of Information Act before releasing any information.
