We are pleased to announce that Attorneys Jeff Ewoldt and Jasmina Boever have joined Dickinson, Bradshaw, Fowler & Hagen, P.C.
Jeff Ewoldt
With over 25 years of providing legal services in the Des Moines area, Jeff joins the firm as a Shareholder and practices primarily in the areas Litigation and Insurance Defense where he represents a number of insurance companies and insured individuals in a variety of matters.
“I’m excited to continue my practice at a firm like Dickinson Bradshaw,” he said. “My practice and experience as a trial lawyer fit well with the firm’s existing insurance defense and litigation groups, and I was fortunate to have portable business and outstanding support staff to bring with me.”
Jeff obtained his Juris Doctorate degree (with Honors) from Drake University Law School. After law clerkships at the Des Moines area law firms of Smith, Schneider, Stiles, Hudson, Serangeli, Mallaney & Shindler, Nyemaster Goode, and Pingel & Templer, Jeff joined Pingel & Templer as an associate upon graduating and passing the bar. Later, he moved to Davis, Brown, Koehn, Shors & Roberts, and then to Hopkins & Huebner, P.C. where he was a Shareholder for the past 11 years.
Before deciding to become an attorney, Jeff obtained a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Iowa State University and worked for a few years as staff writer at The Des Moines Register, Indianapolis News, Quad-City Times, and the Sioux Falls Argus-Leader. During that time, he reported on crime and the courts, which sparked an interest in the law.
“After a year or so of observing numerous criminal and civil trials, and getting acquainted with many lawyers, I felt called to join the legal profession,” he said. “That experience in journalism has also proven to be incredibly useful as an attorney as it provided great training for conducting investigations, interviews and depositions, and writing.”
Outside of the office, Jeff has had a keen interest in aviation since he was a child and is the co-owner of a Cessna 172 airplane. He has held a private pilot’s license for many years and is a member of the Solar Flying Club based at the Ankeny Regional Airport. He also enjoys hiking, biking, nature/landscape photography, and spending time with his two beloved cats as their pro bono butler.
In addition, Jeff currently serves on the Board of Directors of Iowa Bird Rehabilitation, a Des Moines-based nonprofit organization devoted to the care and rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wild birds.
Jasmina Boever
Joining the firm as an Associate Attorney, Jasmina will be focusing primarily on Insurance Defense work. While at Dickinson Bradshaw, she also hopes to further expand her practice by working closely with the firm’s attorneys handling Bankruptcy, Tax Law, Real Estate, Will, Trusts, Probate, and other Transactional matters.
“I am happy to join Dickinson Bradshaw because of its excellent reputation in the legal community and it diverse practice group areas,” she said.
Jasmina was born in Stolac, a city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and moved with her family to the United States in 1999. She attended DMACC and Drake University where she obtained an undergraduate degree in Law, Politics, and Society and earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Drake University Law School in 2024.
Most recently, Jasmina practiced liability defense at Hopkins & Huebner, P.C. where she also did transactional work. Prior to that, she was at Stoltze Law Group PLC where she primarily focused on Criminal Defense work through a contract with the State helping individuals with simple, serious, and aggravated misdemeanors, along with employment and personal injury law.
Combined with her legal experience, Jasmina is bilingual and can most often be found with a cup of coffee in her hands.
“I’m a coffee addict; if you don’t see me with a cup of coffee something is wrong, which I attribute to my Slavic heritage. I also speak fluent Bosnian and find myself to be naturally intuitive and empathetic,” she said. “My outgoing and inviting personality is what I believe will help me with building good client relationships.”
Jasmina and her husband, Jarrad, lived in San Diego for a few years while he served in the Marines, but then the couple moved back to Iowa and settled in Johnston where they now live with their son.
In her spare time, Jasmina loves to spend time with her family, including watching her son play sports and the piano. She also enjoys making her family’s traditional jam called Pekmez, gluten-free baking, and traveling as often as possible to visit family in Arizona and Eastern Europe.
